Environmental challenges

The majority of our business operations are based on what nature has to offer (raw materials for construction and cooking, energy…). It is up to us to preserve it as much as possible in order to continue our operations.

The acquisition of the Domaine de Nonville brings the agricultural and hotel-restaurant worlds closer together

In 2021, Groupe Bertrand created a new activity, Domaines & Terroirs, to promote the Ile-de-France region in some of its hotels and restaurants while using agro-ecological farming methods on living soil.

02

Investment in forests

Groupe Bertrand owns forests in the central part of France. These forests are managed under a plan to preserve local biodiversity and to test agroforestry methods.

Bertrand Hospitality supports the agro-ecological transition of the Oé wine estate

We are continuing the adventure with Oé wines by financing the regeneration of the biodiversity of 1 ha of the new Domaine Oé, located in Vaucluse and Drôme. This financial support was provided via the Agoterra financing platform, a pioneer in financing sustainable agriculture. We can therefore say that the circle is complete because we have been serving Oé wines in our Parisian establishments for more than 2 years !

04

Au Bureau and Agoterra help farmers in their agro-ecological transition

Au Bureau has signed a partnership with Agoterra by supporting 9 French farmers in their transition to low-carbon, all located within 25 km of one of our pubs. This is a first step towards the agro-ecological transition, but also offsets part of the residual GHG emissions for our restaurants.

05

Combatting food waste

The result after 3 years of a partnership with Too Good To Go for some of our restaurants:

17 partner retail outlets

60 230 anti-waste containers saved from the trash can

150 tons of C02 avoided = 96 Paris-Tokyo flights

06

Fair compensation for French farmers through collaboration with C'est qui le Patron ?!

Following our commitment to purchasing eggs from free-range hens, Bertrand Hospitality has decided to go further by guaranteeing fair compensation for French farmers through our collaboration with C’est qui le Patron?!

C’est qui le Patron?! is a brand of fair trade products created collectively by consumers in 2016. Fair compensation for farmers, co-development, and product transparency are the key words of this fair trade approach, which now includes 30 fair trade product lines sold throughout France.

07

Sorting bio-waste with Les Alchimistes

We seek to support innovative and local initiatives. At Pied de Cochon (Paris 1st), Public House (Paris 9th), Vaudeville (Paris 2nd), Bofinger (Paris 12th) and in some Leon and Au Bureau restaurants , the start-up Les Alchimistes collects our organic waste and transforms it into compost for agriculture in Seine-Saint-Denis.

BURGER KING, the king of flame-grilled meat, ramps up its plant-based approach

For THE expert in flame-grilled meat, it is not easy to become the first fast-food chain to offer the most extensive plant-based product range on the market in France. And yet. A few months after launching the Veggie King, BURGER KING® France is shifting into high gear and is now offering a plant-based alternative for three of its best-sellers.

Léon cares for the sea !

For the third year in a row, Léon took part in the World Cleanup Day 2025. Our teams mobilized across France to join the world’s largest citizen clean-up initiative. At Léon, this cause is close to our hearts. Why? Because 80% of marine waste comes from land.

The results?

44 participating restaurants

Over 200 participants

More than 350 kg of waste collected

Léon & Coral Guardian

In 2024, Léon renewed its commitment alongside Coral Guardian on the occasion of World Reef Awareness Day. Aware of the impact marine biodiversity has on our professions and products, Léon supports the association Coral Guardian, which works to preserve coral reefs by involving local communities.

Social and societal challenges

The Group’s financial performance is strongly linked to its social and societal performance (policies on disability, gender equality, integration of young people and refugees, quality of life at work…). The CSR policies of our different business operations take into account all our stakeholders, whether they are our employees, our customers, our partners, associations, suppliers, hospitality management schools, etc.

Au Bureau supports Sport dans la Ville for the integration of young people

For the past 5 years, Au Bureau has been supporting associations that help young people and hospitalized children through sports.

In 2022, Au Bureau partnered with Sport dans la Ville, which supports around 10,000 young people from priority neighborhoods every year on their path to success. Through sports, the association instills important values that foster both personal development and professional integration.

Its mission: to give young people from priority neighborhoods the confidence, ambition, and means to dream and succeed.

Au Bureau takes part in charity runs, Foot & Job sessions, and employment forums to present its professions to these young people.

This year, we had the pleasure of welcoming some of them for an immersion experience centered on knowledge-sharing and solidarity.

During these special Olympiads editions, the program was rich:

  • A guided tour of the restaurant and introduction to our professions

  • 3 challenges that were both fun and professional

A day marked by transmission and sharing, built around the values that bring us together: team spirit, discipline, and kindness.

Some of them then join our teams, either as interns or under open-ended contracts.

04

Collaboration with Refugee Food

For the past 4 years, Groupe Bertrand has been working with Refugee Food to continue to change the way people view refugees, to facilitate their professional integration and to promote the world’s culinary heritage ( four-hand dishes at the Refugee Food Festival, hosting refugee interns for integration, recruiting refugees…)

05

Improving financial well-being of our employees

A partnership with Rosaly has been launched for several of our brands (Au Bureau, Polpo, Vaudeville, Volfoni and the headquarters). This social impact fintech allows us to digitize payroll deposits. The goal? To offer a new and practical solution to improve the autonomy and financial well-being of our employees, through the use of a free app linked to our payroll system.
06

Running for a good cause !
